A town and taluk in Kollam District of Kerala, Kottarakkara lies on National Highway 208/220. Located 27kms east of Kollam and 18kms west of Punalur city, this town is famous for being the place of origin, Kerala’s unique dance drama Kathakali. Considered the main place for the Malankara Orthodox Christians, Kottarakkara has many notable educational institutions and a great number of notable places of worship.
