Located near the Kaveri River in the east of Kodagu district Kushalanagara is a town in the state of Karnataka. During the pre-Independence era the town was known as Fraserpet after Colonel Fraser. Located on the Mangalore–Mysore state highway 88, Kushalanagara town is well-known for the Golden Temple and the Buddhist Monastery. The Tibetan Bylakuppe settlement is within 1–3 km from Kushalanagara towards Mysore.
