Mahoba is a city in the North Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The city had been ruled by the Chandel Rajput till the 16th Century, after which it passed on to the Emperor Sher Shah Suri and subsequently the Mughals. It is often said that the city was referred in the Bhavishya Purana as Mahavati Nagar.
