McLeod Ganj is a popular hill station in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district. This area got its name from Sir Donald Friell McLeod, a Lieutenant Governor of Punjab; Ganj in Hindi means neighbourhood. This town was once the summer capital of the British. Today, it attracts a huge number of tourists from across the country as well as abroad. McLeod Ganj became the official residence of the Dalai Lama since 1960.
