McLeod Ganj is a popular hill station in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district. This area got its name from Sir Donald Friell McLeod, a Lieutenant Governor of Punjab; Ganj in Hindi means neighbourhood. This town was once the summer capital of the British. Today, it attracts a huge number of tourists from across the country as well as abroad. McLeod Ganj became the official residence of the Dalai Lama since 1960.

There is no railway station in McLeod Ganj. Nagrota Bagwan Railway Station is the nearest railway station situated 29 km away from McLeod Ganj.
