About Miraj

Miraj

A town in southern Maharashtra, Miraj is believed to have been founded in the early 10th century. An important junction, Miraj was ruled by the Pathwardhan family until the Independence. A secular town, Miraj is well-known for the Hindustani classical music performance held here. In the 19th century, Miraj gained prominence for it Vaidyas, practitioners of traditional Ayurvedic medicine.
