About OSIAN

OSIAN

An oasis in the Thar Desert, Osian is also nicknamed as the Khajuraho of Rajasthan. Located in Jodhpur district, this town has several Jain temples that are worth visiting. Earlier, a major religious hub of the Marwar kingdom, the ruins of the temples stand testimony to its former glory. The National Highway 11 lies close to the town, thus making it a well connected place.

In terms of accommodation facilities, Osian does not have much to offer. Nadiad is a small city forming a part of the Kheda district in Gujarat. Its neighbours are Anand (18 km) and Kheda (22 km). It is also called Natapadra or Natpur (City of Natas). The number 9 is of historical significance in Nadiad, as there are 9 routes into the city, 9 lakes and step wells around it and 9 villages near it. Mahatma Gandhi started his Satyagraha movement from Kheda, while staying at the alms house in Nadiad.
