Paramakudi is a town, a municipality in Ramanathapuram district in the Tamil Nadu. The river Vaigai flows through Paramakudi on its way to the Bay of Bengal. The town is located approximately 75 kms east of Madurai, 35 kms west of Ramanathapuram on the Madurai-Rameswaram National Highway and 480 kms from the state capital Chennai. Cotton and chili peppers are the main cultivated crops in the villages surrounding the town.
