Formerly known as ‘Prabhavatinagar,’ Parbhani is a city in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra. Perched at an average elevation of 347 metres above sea-level, it is situated around the centre of Maharashtra. Parbhani was under the reign of various Sultans under the Mughals and later the Nizams for around 650 years and so has a long history. It is the administrative headquarters of the Parbhani District. It is dotted with numerous temples and has also be called a pilgrim town.
