Pathamadai or Pattamadai is a panchayat town in the Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu. It is surrounded by Kozhumadai in the east, Paymadai in the west, Pulavan Kudiyeruppu in the south and Karisulnthamangalam in the north. This town is the birth place of Swami Sivananda and is famous for the Sivananda Hospital. Pattamadai is also well known for its hand woven mats crafted out of korai grass (Marsh Reed plant). These mats are also called as Indian Chattai.
