About Pugal


Pugal is a small village in the western Indian state of Rajasthan. It is located in the midst of the Thar Desert, adjacent to Punjab province of Pakistan. The Pakistan border is close-by at an approximate distance of 52 km north-west. Those willing to explore the desert region, life in the border areas as well as traditional cuisine can try this place out.

Places to Stay
Being a village, naturally there are no places to put up for the night in the area. One is forced to venture into Bikaner for lodging. There are a couple of good budget hotels in the city. Some of the options which are worth a try are Laji Hotel (Tariff – Rs. 500), Shri Ram Heritage (Tariff – Rs. 600), Bikaner Hotel (Tariff – Rs. 850), and Shiva’s Regency (Tariff – Rs. 600) among others.

The official language of the area is Hindi.

The important festivals celebrated are Holi in March, Hanuman Jayanti, Dusshera in September-October and Diwali in November.

Places of Interest
The village in itself may not have anything interesting to offer in terms of tourism. A ride to the Pakistan border with a prior permission from authorities may prove to be little exciting. A visit to the neighbouring hub of Bikaner with its forts, camel races, temples and the bhujia is also worth a try.

The nearest airport is Bikaner Airport at a distance of 74 km.

Bikaner Junction Railway Station is the nearest major railway station at a distance of 99 km.

It is mostly state transport buses which cater to the needs of passengers in the region. Buses to the area are available from Bikaner. Bus ticket booking has become very convenient with online bus reservation facility.
