Punaloor

The headquarters of Pathanapuram Taluk in Kerala, Punalur is situated in the banks of the Kallada River. Known as the ‘Lap of the western Ghats’, Punalur is the second-largest city in Kollam and the 5th largest city in south Kerala. NH-208 connecting Kollam - Thirumangalam Road passes through Punalur. The town is famous across the country for its paper industries. The town has a great number of educational institutions.

A city in the Anantpur district of Andhra Pradesh, Gooty is situated 52 km from Anantpur. Gooty was known as Gowthampuri in the ancient days under the rule of Ashoka in the 7th Century. The Yadiki caves (27 km from Gooty) has many temples and are also frequented by tourists.
