Puri is an important pilgrimage city in the eastern state of Odisha. It is famous throughout the world for the Jagannatha Temple, built in the 11 century, and the handicraft and cottage industries that originated from temple craft. Considered one of the holiest places in Hindu tradition, it is a part of the original Char Dham pilgrimage route.
