A city located in the Satara District of Maharashtra, Satara is located near the confluence of the river Krishna and its tributary river Venna. Believed to have been established in the 16thcentury, Satarais one of the historical cities in Maharashtra. The name of the city was derived from the seven hills surrounding it.
