A city located in the Shekhawati region of Sikar District in Rajasthan state, Sikar has many well-known and historic building that attracts tourists. The city is well connected by roads to all the major cities in the state. National highway NH-11, which connects Sikar to Jaipur and Bikaner passes through the centre of the city. Sikar is now emerging as one of the main education hubs in the state.

There are several places of interest in Bharatpur, some of which are Keoladeo National Park, Lohagarh Fort, Fateh Burj, Laxmi Vilas Palace, Kishori Mehal and others. Mathura in Uttar Pradesh (118 km to the north-east) is famous all over the word for temples dedicated to lord Krishna, as this is supposed to be the place of his birth. Vrindavan (a part of Mathura) is where Krishna spent his childhood days. Among the must-see spots is the picturesque Prem Mandir.

The closest airport to the city is the Sawai Mansingh International Airport in Jaipur at a distance of 160 km.
The city has its own railway station in the form of Hindaun City Railway Station.
