About Sitamarhi

Sitamarhi

A historical town in Bihar, Sitamarhi was where lord Rama’s wife Sita was born. This town has a temple built in honour of Sita. It lies on the Bihar-Nepal border. There is also a rock-cut structure of the Mauryan dynasty in the town. Sitamarhi was totally destroyed in 1934 during the Bihar earthquake. A scenic town with several temples, it makes for a good weekend getaway. Its nearest city is Muzaffarpur, which is 65 km away.
