Tarapith is a town located near River Dwaraka in West Bengal. The town is famous as one of the most important places where Goddess Tara and her Tantric cult is worshipped. Goddess Tara worshipped here is a union of the fierce Sati avatar and the Buddhist Tara form that Buddha purportedly saw. It receives thousands of devotees every day. However, it is like any other small Bengali town with thatched roof huts and green paddy fields.
