A city in the Anantpur district of Andhra Pradesh, Gooty is situated 52 km from Anantpur. Gooty was known as Gowthampuri in the ancient days under the rule of Ashoka in the 7th Century. Gooty also has a number of railway lines passing through it, making it easy for anyone to find transport to other cities in India.

The Yadiki caves (27 km from Gooty) has many temples and are also frequented by tourists.
