A small town in Karaikal, Thirunallar is well-known for being the only temple dedicated to Lord Shani. The Tirunallar Saniswaran Temple also houses Lord Darbharanyeswaran, a form of Lord Shiva. According to legends King Nala is said to have been relieved of his afflictions after worshipping in this temple, hence millions throng the shrine all through the year. Nala Theertam in this temple attracts devotees who bathe here to dispense off their misfortune and bad karma.
