A village located 7kms from Sirkali and 27kms from Chidambaram, Vaitheeswarankovil is well-known for the Vaitheeswaran Temple or Pullirukkuvelur, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Pilgrims visit Vaitheeswaran (God of healing) to pray for curing diseases and to take the holy dip in the Siddhamirtham tank within the temple complex, which is believed to contain nectar that cures illness.
