Vembakottai is a village in Sivakasi Taluk of Virudhunagar district, Tamil Nadu. Situated in the vicinity of Sivakasi,the Vembakottai Lake and Dam is the main source of water for a number villages and towns in the surrounding region, receives water from the seven tributaries of the River Vaippar. The river originates from the eastern slopes of the Western Ghats. Being a picturesque place, the village has over the last few years gained prominence as a popular picnic spot.
