Vita

Vita, in Maharashtra’s Sangli district, has two state highways crisscrossing from the heart of the town. A part of the Pune division, it is surrounded by the Sahyadri mountains. This place is a perfect weekend getaway, as it is far from the madding crowd. Vita has a number of beautiful temples worth visiting. Its nearby cities are Karad and Sangli.

Ganesh Chaturthi in September and Diwali in October-November are celebrated in a huge way in Vita.

Places of Interest
Vita might be a small town, but it has a lot of places that are worth visiting. Lord Revansiddha Temple (8 km), Mahankaleshwar Temple (9 km) and Mayani Migratory Bird Sanctuary (20 km) are some of the must-visit places in the town.

How to Get There

Air:
About 87 km away from Vita is Kolhapur airport, which is the closest to the village. Sholapur airport (151 km) is yet another option.

Rail:
The village has no rail head. People have to travel about 19 km to get to the nearest railway station in Karad.

Bus:
There are regular buses from Karad, Mangalore, Udipi, Bangalore and Sangli. One of the top operators on this route is VRL Travels.

Kapu a small town in the Udupi district of Karnataka is a coastal town that consists of four villages. 13kms south of Udupi, Kaup, which is pronounced as Kapu, is famous for its lighthouse and the three Goddess Durga temples and a fort built by Tippu Sultan. The town lies between Udupi and Mangalore on National Highway 66. Scenic on the shores of the Arabian Sea, many films have been shot at Kapu. The sunrise and sunset in the backdrop of light house at Kapu is one of the main attractions of the place.

Events/festivals
The Kaup Beach Ustava attracts a lot of tourists for its sand art. The annual 'Ati Mari Puje’ festival at the historically famous temple of Goddess Mariyamma is usually thronged by thousands of devotees all over the state and even neighbouring states.

Language
The language predominantly spoken in this town is Kannada.

Places to visit
Other than the lighthouse and the Tipu Sultan fort the temples around the area includes Anegudde, Anegudde Vinayaka Temple and the Lord Kotilingeshwara Temple, which is loacetd about 1-2kms from the bus stand. Neighbouring town Udupi has a lot more tourist places of interest.
