About Washim

Washim

A city and a municipal council in the Washim district of Maharashtra, Washim is about 200 km from Aurangabad. The name Washim is derived from Basim, which means ‘the one that smiles’ in Arabic. Washim is famous as a pilgrimage hub and has many ancient temples like Balaji Mandir, Padma Teertha and Pohara Devi temple. It is said that Rishi Vatsa performed a yagna (holy ritual) in Washim for forgiveness from the gods and he was blessed, hence Washim is also mentioned in scriptures as Vatsagulma.

Muktainagar

Muktainagar is a small town in Jalgoan district of Maharashtra  was  known, earlier as ‘Edlabad.’ It is a town situated on National Highway 6 which is now known as Asian Highway 46. Muktainagar is a Marathi town which gained its popularity because of its link with Muktai, who was the younger sister of the St. Dnayeshwar. Saint Dnayshwar  is said to have acquired samadhi on the banks of the river Tapti. Several political leaders are from Muktainagar.
